Asaliya seed, sometimes referred to as Garden cress to distinguish it from similar plants also referred to as cress, Is a rather fast growing, edible herb. Garden cress genetically related to Watercress and Mustard, sharing their peppery, tangy flavor and aroma.
Garden cress is propagated from seeds and grown as spicy salad herb, often in kitchen garden. It is a short-lived plant that mature in 3 to 4 months. Sprouts or seedings are mostly used. This annual plant can reach a height of 60 cm with many branches on the upper part. The white to pinkish flowers are only 2 mm across, clustered in branched racemes.
