General Information:
Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate, a pure, time-tested mineral compound with dozens of uses. Epsom salt has a long history of diversified use and benefits for health, beauty, household cleaning, and outdoor gardening. It was originally prepared from mineral water while today it’s obtained mainly from mining operations.
Deriving its name from a bitter saline spring found at Epsom, specifically in Surrey England, where the compound was first purified from water. Long-used as a remedy for various ailments, Epsom salt offers a lot of beauty, gardening, and household benefits as well.
Epsom salt is rich in both magnesium and sulfate. While both magnesium and sulfate can be poorly absorbed through the stomach, studies show increased magnesium levels from soaking in a bath enriched with Epsom salt! Magnesium and sulfate are both easily absorbed through the skin.
Epsom salt is NOT a type of table salt but is instead a naturally occurring magnesium and sulfate mineral compound. It’s different from traditional salts in that it is a mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. Epsom salt is composed of small, colorless crystals and does look like table salt; however, table salt is completely different from Epsom salt since it consists of sodium chloride.
While there are many different brands of Epsom salt available in the market, they are all the same chemical products.
How to use:
As a bath salt.
For home remedy:
Add 2 cups of Epsom salt to the water in a standard-sized bathtub, Soak for at least 12 minutes, The Epsom salt will dissolve quicker if you put it under the running water.
Note: For human use, the Epsom Salt Council recommends only Epsom salt with the USP designation.
